COVID-19 UPDATE
GCFD's Community Risk Reduction & Education Coordinator is now available to attend virtual neighborhood association and other community organization meetings. If you would like to arrange for him to speak at your virtual meeting, please contact us 7-10 business days in advance.
Fire Department Program Request Form
Please see additional updates for individual programs and services below.
The Greenville City Fire Department offers many safety programs and services by request.
Please submit your request at least 7-10 business days in advance.
Fire Extinguisher Classes
Fire extinguisher classes typically consist of a 20-25 minute video and a Q&A session, followed by a hands-on practical demonstration. Class length is determined by the number of participants. Hosts are responsible for providing a meeting room, television, and DVD player. Participants must be 18 or older.
UPDATE: We have resumed accepting fire extinguisher class requests; however, all participants will be required to wear a mask and appropriate safety measures and protocols will be required at the class site. Please contact us at least 7-10 business days before your desired date.
Fire and Life Safety House
The Fire and Life Safety House is used to help educate children about various fire safety practices, including "stop, drop and roll," practicing a fire escape plan and how to meet at a predetermined location.
More about the Safety House
NOTICE: To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we are not accepting Fire and Life Safety House requests at this time.
Fire Truck
When requesting a visit from GCFD personnel and equipment, please keep in mind that our fire trucks are active emergency vehicles, and if they receive a request for service, they will have to leave your event. If that occurs, whether or not they are able to return to your event will depend on the severity of the emergency. If firefighters do not receive a request for service, the amount of time that they can remain at the event will be at the supervisor’s discretion.
UPDATE: Limited fire truck requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at least 7-10 business days before your desired date.
American Flag Display
Displaying the American flag is something we are honored to do, and something we take very seriously. In most cases, we will provide the American flag to be displayed. Please note that GCFD only accepts requests to display the American or South Carolina flags.
NOTICE: To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we are not accepting American flag display requests at this time.
Hands-Only CPR
According to the American Heart Association, 90% of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die because they don’t receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. With proper training, you can make a difference.
More about Hands-Only CPR
NOTICE: To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we are not accepting Hands-only CPR class requests at this time.
Smoke Alarms
The Greenville City Fire Department provides smoke alarms and installation, free of charge, to city residents.
More about Smoke Alarms
UPDATE: We have resumed accepting smoke alarm requests. Fire personnel wear masks and observe social distance when performing smoke alarm installations. Residents are also encouraged to wear masks and observe social distance during smoke alarm installations.
Station Tour
Firefighters will put on turnout gear while a speaker discusses each item and how it relates to firefighter safety. All attendees must be supervised by the on-duty firefighters while visiting the fire station. One adult must accompany every five children during a station tour. A visit can be canceled without notice when an emergency occurs. Please note: GCFD policy does not allow birthday parties at fire stations.
NOTICE: To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we are not accepting station tour requests at this time.
