Organized to provide guidance and community perspective, the Black History Steering Committee is comprised of community leaders from a diverse backgrounds of Black history and culture. The committee works to ensure that the city's celebration of Black History is inclusive, accurate and meaningful.
With a mission to promote understanding and appreciation of the contributions and experiences of Black individuals and communities throughout the history of Greenville, the City will highlight ongoing community efforts and initiatives. Through the committee's guidance and recommendations, together we will create a Black History Month celebration that truly reflects the diverse and rich history of the community. The committee operates under 3 tenets: Honor the Past, Look to the Future and Build Community.
