[ARCHIVED] Scooter Joins K-9 Unit

The Greenville Police Department is proud to announce the newest member of our Police force. This addition was made possible by the generosity of Scott & Katherine Willis. The Willis family made a charitable donated to purchase and train a black Labrador Retriever. Scott Willis was a former Sergeant with the Greenville Police Department in the Vice and Narcotics division when he resigned in 2004. Scott understands the value of having a canine assigned to the Vice and Narcotics division. Scott is currently the CEO of Palmetto Surety Corporation located in Charleston, South Carolina.

The canine has been trained and certified as a single-purpose narcotics detection canine. Astro Kennels, located in Simpsonville, South Carolina, has trained this canine for narcotics detection. The canine has also been certified through North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA).

The Greenville Police Department is honored to welcome this Black Labrador Retriever, “Scooter,” as our newest officer. Scooter is named after Scott Willis, which was a nickname given to him by fellow officers during his tenure at the Greenville Police Department.
